My name is Iman.
I’m from Egypt.
I’m a wife and mother of three beautiful children.
And I love to bake!
There’s nothing nicer than creating delicious baked goods and desserts from scratch. It’s an activity that anyone can take part in regardless of skill level or age; just follow the instructions, and you’re set!
Baking connects me not only with my family, but also with my Arabic and Middle Eastern culture and the deep, rich traditions surrounding it.
I’d love to introduce you to the remarkable woman who inspired me with a love of baking.
Introducing my grandma
When I was a little girl, I’d watch my grandma bake the most incredible treats, using recipes passed through the generations.
She was an exceptional cook and baker, and when I was a little older, she’d let me help in the kitchen. I’d measure ingredients, mix batter, and peel fruits and vegetables while she cooked up treats. Then, when I was older still, we’d work on recipes together, adjusting them until they were perfect.
Now there’s nothing more wonderful than sharing my favourite childhood treats with my own children.
My grandma taught me everything I know. All the recipes in this blog are either handed down or inspired by her.
Her time-honoured, Middle Eastern recipes feature in my very first cookbook, Sweet Love, which I’m proud to share with the world. Why not order your copy today?
Why I started my recipe blog
As well as connecting me with my family and culture, baking connects me with the world around me. There’s nothing nicer than getting feedback from others about how much they enjoy my baking.
I want to use my blog to share my recipes with people. It makes me smile thinking that another family somewhere in the world will bake one of my recipes and love it so much that they pass it on to family and friends. I also want to learn recipes and techniques from other people too; that’s the power of baking!
My blog also talks about family bonds and the importance of culture. As well as offering some delicious recipes, I hope to inspire others with a different outlook on life.
Tips to get you started
Whether you’re new to baking or looking for some fantastic new recipes, you’ll find lots of tried-and-tested ideas on this blog. Here’s how to enhance your baking experience further and get the best results.
Read the entire recipe first so you know what ingredients you need and how long the cooking and preparation will take. There’s nothing worse than getting halfway through a recipe and realising you’ve run out of flour or sugar!
Get all the necessary ingredients out and measure them before you start. This is called ‘mise en place,’ and it’s what the top chefs do to make cooking dishes easier
Clean as you go. That way, you’re not faced with a huge pile of dishes to wash after you finish!
Make sure you have all the right tools. While most of my recipes use basic equipment like bowls, trays, and spoons, some do require some more specialist baking apparatus
And finally… enjoy! Baking should be a fun and happy experience. Grab an apron, turn on some music, and prepare to bake delicious treats that your family will love.
I can’t wait to be your guide in the kitchen, and I’m looking forward to sharing my favourite recipes with you.
